Information technology of the twentieth century has enhanced our analytical abilities, but it hasn't kept pace with our creative abilities. Moreover, twenty-first century technology is concerned with a connected world where information comes in from multiple resources. The ability to provide information on-demand has led to the requirement for rapid decision making in an increasingly complex world.
There are two fundamental strategies today's software companies have: they can reengineer the existing products to adapt to changing requirements, or they can build entirely new technologies and paradigms. Xcelsius is a prime example of the latter and should be used as a role model for other companies on how to go about reinventing software for data analysis.
